There is one exception though: If you want to be an archer, you need as high archery at the beginning as possible. I have something between 200-250 proficiency from polearms, around 150 in one handed and two handed (not a point spent on these three) and around 90-100 in bows/crossbows/throwing.įor the player character, it is not important to start with high levels of proficiency. My current character just became a noble of the Nord kingdom, he is around level 20. So in the end, every character will have 1-2 skill where he excells, and the rest will be around 80-100. When you are above - you will be soon with the weapons you use often - you cannot put points into it anymore, and if you want to spend them, you will put it into not used secondary skills for tournaments. If you have 3 levels (for 9 agility), you can put points into it until about 120-150 skill. To level up weapon proficiencies from skill points, you need the weapon master skill.

You will be inevitably proficient in all skills.

Besides it might be good to be proficient in more skills for when I face tournaments, sieges and training grounds? I understand that it takes longer time to level up in higher levels, so maybe this is ultimately irrelevant. Thus, when I should have level 100 on one of them, I only have level 50 one handed and level 50 two handed, making either less effective than if I used only one. I imagined that if I only used one type of weapon, it would level up twice as fast as if i divided it in two. In a nutshell: What second skill to max out? What weapon will best kill infantry quickly and cavalry effectively enough, without having a third skill or going back to the inventory constantly? That leaves swords out, or am I being too simplistic? Is sword good against both infantry and cavalry?Ī combination I like is one-handed blunt such as morningstar with shield, but it doesn't seem to work too well against cavalry, unless I'm doing it wrong? If I leave out shield, I could have two different weapons from the same skill, but this is maybe a bad idea if I encounter ranged units? I'm thinking of having one quick/short swinging polearm for killing loads of infantry and one long "coucheable" lance against horses for example, but even with loads of armor I might be too vulnerable?īow is probably not great against armor/shield, so I suppose a blunt/piercing weapon is a better balance. I am guessing two handed on horse is pretty useless. Should the other be two handed weapons, one handed or polearm? I want to max out only two skills, one being archery. I am very undecided on what to use as secondary weapon. I plan on making a new character with bow as main weapon.
